An intro to Yoga...
Let's explore the structure of a Yoga class (Warm up, Breathing techniques, Surya Namaskar, Standing Poses, Backbends, Inversions, Forward bends, & Savasana...) setting the foundation for new students to join any Yoga offerings with confidence and serving as an alignment refresher for those Yogis already practicing.

Focus is on the breath, alignment of the body and gaze or Drishti in poses.
Exploration of alignment based on Iyengar Light On Yoga, prioritizing what is accessible to us now, in our individual bodies.

Breathe... An intro to Pranayama

Do you know how to breathe?

The breath is the gateway to calming the mind.
Our breathing has a direct correlation to our mental and physical state. It is paramount for both our physical and mental health to know how to breathe. The breath is life!

Pranayama or the fourth step in Yoga eight step path, entails breathing techniques/exercises that aim to move our Prana / life force through our energetic bodies to prepare us for Meditation. Through its practice one experiences so many benefits, including:
Reduced blood pressure
Calmed mind
Increased lung capacity
Supported brain function
Reduced stress, depression and anxiety
Emotional health
and so much more…

Let’s gather in person and in safety for an Introduction to Pranayama workshop. We'll go through:
1. An overview of Pranayama/breathing as a traditional Yoga practice.
2. Various Pranayama/breathing techniques that you may take home to continue your practice
3. Ending with a brief Meditation with grounding techniques to address potential trauma that may deter some of us from the practice
Journaling prompts will be provided throughout the workshop.

Intro to the Chakras
July

Let’s gather and explore the seven main energetic centers, the Chakras.

In this introduction, Eduvigis will provide an overview of how the Chakras are connected with our physical, mental and emotional functioning and our understanding of who we are.
Including the elements, colors, seed mantra for each Chakra.
Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown.
Followed by a brief seated meditation on each Chakra and journaling.
Ending with a Yoga Nidra Meditation navigating all seven Chakras for a balancing and relaxing afternoon.
Open to all.
