Spring Renewal - Detoxifying Body, Mind & Heart

Spring is a time for rebirth, rejuvenation and new beginnings.

It is a time to cleanse the body and mind from the inside out, not just decluttering our physical surroundings.

Let’s gather to awaken from Winter’s slumber, with a detoxifying Yoga sequence, followed by restorative poses that help us to let go and open us into new beginnings; ending with a Yoga Nidra meditation that navigates through our energetic body, our Chakras for a complete cleanse of body, mind, heart.

Basics Series
Sunday 3/29/20 at 4pm

Let's explore the structure of a Yoga class (Warm up, Breathing techniques, Surya Namaskar, Standing Poses, Backbends, Forward bends, Inversions & Arm Balances...) setting the foundation for new students to join any Yoga classes with confidence and serving as an alignment refresher for those Yogis already practicing.

We will focus on the breath, alignment of the body, and gaze or Drishti in poses.
We will explore the alignment based on Iyengar Light On Yoga, finding what is accessible to us in our individual bodies.

Meditation 101
4/19/20 at 4pm

What is Meditation?
What are the benefits?
How can I get started?

Join us for this Meditation workshop as we answer these questions because to borrow Sharon Salzberg's quote, as she said it best,
"Meditation trains the mind the way physical exercise strengthens the body".
Once you start the practice, you'll notice a mentally stronger, calmer you.

We'll discuss Meditation as part of the eight limb Yoga practice, tantra and breathing techniques and practice Nidra Meditation (complete relaxation practiced in corpse pose, savasana).

Take away: a recording of the Yoga Nidra Meditation, so you may continue to practice on your own.

4/25/20 at 1pm

Ayurveda (ayur or ayus means “life force” and veda means “science” or “knowledge”) translates to science or knowledge of life.
It is a 5000 year old holistic and comprehensive medical system meant to help you achieve balance in your mind, body and spirit, while promoting harmony in your inner and outer worlds.

In this workshop, you'll first be guided through a gentle practice where you will learn how to identify any imbalances and how to approach your practice to bring yourself back into balance.
The practice will end with a yoga nidra practice to help reduce excess Kapha during this Kapha season. We will then discuss the foundational elements of Ayurveda where you will:

Learn about the three doshas: vata, pitta and Kapha and how they form our individual constitution
Identify your own constitution and self care techniques from movement to food to keep yourself in balance
Learn how to identify if there is any excess of one dosha and how to reduce it to bring your health back into balance
Learn how to prevent an imbalance to reduce excess Kapha during the Kapha season (late winter into early spring)

Intro to the Chakras
4/26/20 at 4pm

Let’s gather and explore the seven main energetic centers, the Chakras.

In this introduction, Liliana and Eduvigis join forces to provide an overview of how the Chakras are connected with our physical, emotional functioning and our understanding of who we are.
Including the elements, colors, seed mantra for each Chakra.
(Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown).

Liliana will lead a brief seated meditation on each Chakra followed by brief journaling.
Eduvigis will discuss the essential oils that stimulate each Chakra. lead a chakra flow, more journaling and ending with a Yoga Nidra Meditation navigating up all seven Chakras for a balancing afternoon.

Most New Year's resolutions originate from the misguided desires of the ego and our conditioning that we may not be good enough and that we will acquire happiness by getting things we want.

Yoga philosophy believes we are already Whole, we already have that which we seek (Tat Tvan Asi).
A Sankalpa is a heart-felt desire, a vow that supports our highest truth. It is an affirmation and commitment traditionally made at the beginning and end of the Yoga Nidra Meditation practice, with the goal of planting that heart-felt seed on our sub/unconscious so that it may grow and transform one's life physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, enabling us to realize our life's purpose.…

Let's gather this New Year's Eve as we bid goodbye to a decade and welcome 2020.
We'll start with a writing exercise to find our heartfelt desires, then navigate up the energetic rainbow (our chakras) with an invigorating and vigorous open your heart sequence. More writing after releasing and opening that heart a bit more. We'll navigate through the energetic rainbow again in Yoga Nidra Meditation, where we will be receptive to our heart-felt seed and aligning to our true self..
Ending with a brief sharing and celebration at midnight.

Honor your true Self, release all that is not serving you, connect to your heartfelt desires for 2020 and beyond.

Winter's Rest & Restore

Let’s gather for a Restorative Yoga practice:
relaxing poses where effort is shared with lots of props (cushions, blankets and blocks), soothing breathing exercises, resulting in the release of muscle tension and the transition from stress to calmness… complemented by Aromatherapy and ending with a Yoga Nidra Meditation for complete relaxation of body, mind and heart.
