Master Class with Yogi Charu

Nurture the Body, Mind and Soul with Master Teacher Yogi Charu

Join us for a complete workshop with asana, meditation and yoga philosophy. Open to all.

Yogi Charu is the master teacher of Savitri Yoga Shal (Savi Yoga). His yoga journey began at 15 when he encountered the Bhagavad Gita through a friend in his native country Belize, and left home shortly thereafter to pursue yoga. He spent most of his early career in India where he trained in traditional Himalayan ashrams.

His teaching style stems from classical yoga traditions including pranayama (breath work), asana (poses), kriyas (cleansing techniques) and tantric meditations. Additionally, he is a master teacher of yoga philosophy and often holds workshops on yoga sutras, vedic numerology and more. As a teacher, he went from the Himalayas to Hong Kong in 2000, where he was one of the early yoga instructors to teach at the Hong Kong Country Club, HK Pacific Club, and privately to the staff of UBS and HSBC, Nike, and various law firms. From Hong Kong, he relocated to Australia in 2006 to co-manage Govinda's Lotus studio, where he studied under Anandakapila Saraswati. In 2009 he moved to New York City to set up a yoga studio at The Bhakti Center. He is also the co-head of training at Pure Yoga, one of New York City's leading studios.

Today, Yogi Charu lives in Hawaii and continues to teach and inspire students from all over the world through retreats, privates and virtual meditation & philosophy classes.

Yoga is for everyBODY; all sizes and shapes can benefit from this practice. You don't need a different body to start or deepen your yoga practice. You can build stability and flexibility just as you are in this moment. All the benefits of a strong yoga practice are yours to receive, so let's meet our bodies on the mat and flow!

In this two hour workshop for bigger-bodied women and men, you'll enjoy exploring just how adaptable yoga can be in a safe and judgement-free space. Using props like blocks, straps, and even the wall, Angela will introduce variations to common yoga poses to help you create a strength-building practice that fits your unique body, whatever your size or shape. You'll have plenty of time in Curvasana to workshop poses, from beginner-level to advanced. Angela will break postures down to their basic shapes, and link them together in a warming Vinyasa flow, giving you the confidence to build your home practice and take any Vinyasa class anywhere, taught by anyone.

Nidra, Complete Relaxation

Nidra or psychic sleeping, is complete relaxation of body, mind and soul. Through guided, structured techniques, breathing exercises, and visualizations, learn to relax physically, mentally and emotionally, getting the rest needed to cope with life's fluctuations.

We will:
Practice Nidra in corpse pose (Savasana)
Explore the 7-8 different techniques used and how they work based on Swami Satyananda Saraswati and existing scientific evidence
Discuss the benefits of the practice including improving memory, awakening creativity and much more

Salutations to the New Year

Join us as we perform 108 Sun Salutations to bring in the New Year Workshop with Patrick Hogan.

Strengthen your resolutions through to their completion!

Using the meditative repetition of this traditional sequence and contemplating our powers of manifestation, we'll set our resolutions deeper into our being so that they become part of us for lasting change!

We will:
Discuss the purpose and tradition of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) and the number 108
Explore the Mantras and sound vibrations associated with the yoga poses
Meditate upon the Yogic philosophy of the Parush Arthas for fulfilling your purpose
Flow through 108 sun salutations while setting our intentions for this New Year.
